ISO/TC 21 Meetings in Milan, Italy

FirePro actively participated in the recent meetings of the ISO/TC 21/SC 8 Committee, held in Milan, Italy from October 4th to 6th, 2023, with working Groups 10 and 11 convening during the first two days. Co-organized by SA (Standards Australia) and UNI (Italian National Standards Body), the event hosted by UNI gathered technical experts and professionals in the field of fire protection and firefighting equipment from all over the world.

ISO/TC 21 - Equipment for Fire Protection and Firefighting Committee, plays a pivotal role in developing standards for fire safety systems used in and around buildings and firefighting equipment for fire scenes. The adoption and use of standards published by the ISO/TC 21/SC8 Committee greatly enhances the capability to detect and extinguish fires.

Our Executive Director & Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Gian Guido Gianfilippi de Parenti, and our Certifications Compliance Manager, Vakis Ioakim, actively participated as special experts and represented the CYS as National delegates in the ISO/TC 21/SC 8.

The meetings addressed essential matters, including the revision of the ISO 15779 standard for Condensed Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Systems. Moreover, in Working Group 11, submitted comments were discussed, and decisions were taken regarding the creation of the ISO 20862 standard for small enclosure fire protection systems, such as electrical cabinets.

Dr. Gian Guido Gianfilippi de Parenti commented on FirePro's involvement, stating, "FirePro is committed to advancing the field of fire safety through active participation in vital industry events like the recent ISO/TC 21 meetings. Our team of experts is dedicated to making the fire industry safer by contributing to the development of important standards. We are proud to support the continuous improvement of fire protection and firefighting equipment, ultimately enhancing the safety of buildings and fire response capabilities."
